{Staircases: Enhancing Both Style and Function
Stairway designs play a crucial role in joining different levels of a space, offering both practicality and design beauty. There are various styles of stairs, each offering distinct benefits and aesthetic options for various spaces. Whether you’re working with a limited area or a grand space, there’s a stairway design to suit your needs.
{U-Shaped Stairway Designs: A Elegant Design
U-shaped staircases consist of two matching flights joined by a half-turn landing and a middle landing. This design is commonly seen in expansive homes or structures with generous height dimensions. U-shaped stairs are efficient, despite their luxurious and elegant appearance. A landing in the midway point of the staircase can be used for both pausing and aesthetics. This style is associated to opulence and is a popular choice in high-end or rustic homes.
{Curved Stairs: A Masterpiece in Design
A Curved staircase features a smooth, arcing design that adds a element of refinement to any space. Curved stairs are easier to navigate than Spiral ones, thanks to their gentle design. Curved stairway designs are a signature element in spacious homes, traditional properties, or upscale hotels, where they add elegance as a centrepiece. The building of Curved stairway designs requires skilled craftsmanship and is usually more high-end than other types. However, the finished staircase is a gorgeous structural detail that elevates the look of any room.
{Floating Stairs: A Example of Modern Design
Floating stairway designs are defined by their clean design, which makes the steps appear to float in mid-air. The floating effect is created by attaching the treads to a hidden support, removing visible supports. Floating stairway designs are a favoured choice in modern design, as they add to the airy vibe of a home. The absence of obtrusive supports ensures that other elements, such as decor, can stand out. Although visually appealing, Floating stairs must be expertly engineered to maintain security.
{Spiral Stairway Designs: A Stylish Design
Spiral staircases are known for their compact, helical design with a central column. This option is perfect for compact spaces, such as outdoor areas, where a conventional staircase might not fit. Spiral staircases can be made from wood, enabling a range of aesthetic choices. Although efficient, Spiral stairs can be tricky to use, particularly for those with limited mobility or heavy loads. Spiral stairway designs are common for their creative design, which adds charm to any space.
{Bifurcated Stairway Designs: Blending Style and Function
A Bifurcated stairway design is characterised by its balanced design, often seen in mansions. These staircases have a primary flight that divides into two flights at a platform, often curving in different ways. This design is celebrated for its dramatic and opulent presence, often chosen for grand entrances. The harmonious design ensures a symmetrical appearance, often complemented by decorative balustrades or chandeliers. While they require ample space and cost, Bifurcated staircases are a enduring sign of elegance.

Thousands of homes could have 'unsafe staircases'
Thousands of council homes could have potentially dangerous staircases which need to be replaced.
Newcastle City Council said more than 3,000 homes and 57 block of flats have staircases with horizontal guarding which can pose a risk to children climbing up the panels and either falling or becoming trapped.
The authority said the design, now banned under modern building standards, was a category one hazard under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
